About this subject

  • At the completion of this subject students will be able to:

    1. refine their coaching philosophy
    2. critically evaluate theory concerning the contested meaning of a sports coach
    3. appraise holistic pedagogical approaches to sports coaching and their benefits in a range of contexts
    4. describe and evaluate the characteristics of reflective coaching practitioners
    5. select, utilise and justify sports coaching approaches according to purpose and as appropriate to the athletes identities and needs
    6. define and reflect upon quality sports coaching pedagogic practice.
