About this subject
At the completion of this subject students will be able to:
- Demonstrate a conceptual understanding of quality
- Identify problems or sources of poor quality and performance.
- Understand how quality provides a platform for organisational innovation, through the management and mobilisation of existing internal and external sources of knowledge and the application of both synthesis and analysis
- Understand the strategies and processes used to address quality issues in all forms of organisations from service to production, through application of individual and group participation
- Understand the link between Quality and sustainability
- The theories and theorist associated with quality management form a soft systems and innovation perspective
- An understanding and application of problem identification and analysis
- Quality tools and problem solving techniques and there application in multiple contexts
- The development of quality groups and the application of group process to innovation a problem solving
- Soft systems theory (including synthesis)
- Critical management theory applied to innovation and quality
- Cybernetics applied to innovation and quality
- Organisation learning applied to innovation and quality
- Service Quality
- The modern context of quality management as an overarching management intervention
The aim of the degree is to directly address the major philosophies behind the design and development of a Quality Innovation and Improvement Program. This includes Quality Management philosophies, Business Excellence Models, analytical tools, teams and Quality Improvement Program. The link between Quality and organisational sustainability is discussed.As quality assurance and business process reengineering ( BPR) are covered in other management degrees this degree covers the Deming and Soft system management approach to quality which is innovation and improvement via group interventions and problem solving
