About this subject

  • At the completion of this subject you will have a solid knowledge of the role of publishing as a cultural industry, its professional practices and production procedures. 

    You will develop understanding and expertise in the following key areas:

    1. Historical evolution of the industry
    2. Ambiguities of publishing as both a cultural and commercial enterprise
    3. Role of the publisher and editor
    4. Copyright and publishing agreements
    5. Publishing supply chain including editorial, production and marketing processes
    6. Electronic and non-traditional publishing.
