About this subject

  • At the completion of this subject students will be able to:

    1. develop their understanding of the objectives, structure and activities of the main parties in industrial relations
    2. deepen their understanding of the employment relationship
    3. analyse the nature of industrial conflict and be aware of the processes by which disputes can be resolved
    4. evaluate recent public policy regarding the form of the industrial relations system
    5. analyse the impact of enterprise and workplace agreements on wages, conditions, organisational efficiency, workplace flexibility and equity and social justice
    6. examine the main theories of industrial relations
    7. develop critical insights into the development of the Australian industrial relations system
    8. be aware of social justice issues in the workplace and the broader society.
