About this subject
At the completion of this degree, students should have:
- An advanced understanding of international and comparative human resource management and employment relations (IHRM and IER) as a functional area, adding to their career and vocational skills, and professional effectiveness.
- Critically evaluate scholarly perspectives on IHRM and IER and apply these to the analysis of the changing nature of work organisations and social regulation in the global economy.
- An understanding of the principal roles, functions and outcomes of IHRM and IER;
- The knowledge to problem-solve and critically evaluate IHRM and IER complexities, contributing to their organisational membership skills; and
- The knowledge to apply effective IHRM and IER values and techniques to real-world situations, and in particular, to apply these values to the practice of multi-cultural teamwork.

The subject explains the reasons for the development of different forms of employment practices and the extent to which these differences are sustainable.
