About this subject

  • After successfully completing this subject you should be able to:

    1. understand the role of law and policy in shaping and constraining forensic mental health practice;
    2. gain familiarity with the sources and types of relevant law and policy, and factors contributing to their development over time and in different jurisdictions;
    3. identify and engage with specific law and policy applicable in forensic mental health settings;
    4. identify, locate and understand relevant law, including interpreting legislation and case law;
    5. critically analyse current law/ policy debates/ problems in forensic mental health;
    6. demonstrate skills in research, written communication, and critical analysis.
