About this subject
At the completion of this subject students will be able to:
- Identify, evaluate and recommend appropriate investment products, accounts and strategies
- Differentiate between the different portfolio management models and rank each model to critically evaluate fund management performance
- Demonstrate an understanding of the basic Finance principles by acquiring knowledge of the time value of money, how investment market behaves, valuing shares and bonds
- Understand different types of asset classes available for investments
- Explain how financial planners are regulated and their ethical obligations when providing advice to clients
- Recognise scams and investment schemes to avoid

This subject studies the fundamental concepts and principles in finance which serve as the bases for investment analyses and decisions. It explores the trade-off between risk and return as well as the quantitative tools that are essential to analyse this trade-off. The course is intended to provide students with a general overview of both the context and the content of Investment Planning especially as it relates to Financial Planning in Australia.
Prerequisites: AFE122 Financial Planning 1.
