About this subject
At the completion of this subject students will be able to:
- establish critical and reflective practice based on local, national and international research
- apply discipline knowledge, principles and concepts to plan for the delivery and evaluation of teaching and learning experiences that will impact on student learning in Primary HASS
- integrate knowledge of the needs of students from diverse backgrounds and across the full range of abilities to develop differentiated teaching and learning experiences that support and challenge all students in Primary HASS
- appraise a range of resources, including technologies, and make appropriate selections to inform HASS teaching programs
- research Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures and explain ways in which they are incorporated into the HASS learning area.

This subject prepares pre-service teachers to teach Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) in Primary schools through the areas of History, Geography, Economics and Business and Civics and Citizenship. It explores the history and development of the learning area, inquiry approaches to teaching, learning and assessment and integration of HASS in the primary school years.
