About this subject
At the completion of this subject students will be able to:
- analyse and define aesthetic elements and their application within a design context
- analyse and interpret indigenous perspectives and applications of aesthetics and spatial experience in built environment
- analyse design exemplars and interpret the social context in which they are constructed through site visits
- reinterpret a design aesthetic into a creative work that is informed by research
- communicate a well-structured, evidence-based discussion on the perception and experience of space.

This subject was previously known as Interior Architecture Experience and Aesthetics.
In this unit students will examine international and local design precedents using aesthetic theory and cultural perspectives including those of indigenous peoples. Students will analyse the aesthetics of spatial exemplars in order to understand the composition of elements and how and why they evoke certain experiences. Through creative practice, students will also learn how to actively implement aesthetics into spatial design to elicit desired experiences.
