Sculpture Fine Art Studio Processes
About this subject
At the completion of this subject students will be able to:
- innovatively apply knowledge of skills, techniques and methods to the process of sculpture studio practice within a specified conceptual framework
- critically evaluate sculpture studio practice and production techniques in order to generate experimental processes
- originate and critically analyse responses to set projects
- propose, test and evaluate new ideas or ways of working.

This subject was previously known as Sculpture: Concept and Process.
This subject is designed to develop your capacity for research-based enquiry into skills, techniques, methods and processes of fine art that takes into account international and cultural contexts. You will undertake a practical engagement of studio based research through staff and, or self-directed projects within a specified conceptual framework. You will work towards a studio research presentation and a developed body of artwork based in sculpture.
You must supply your own art materials and have access to a digital camera and/or scanner for documenting your artwork for assessment.
Please Note: If it’s your first time studying a Curtin University subject you’ll need to complete their compulsory ‘Academic Integrity Program’. Study load
- 0.125 EFTSL
- This is in the range of 10 to 12 hours of study each week.
Equivalent full time study load (EFTSL) is one way to calculate your study load. One (1.0) EFTSL is equivalent to a full-time study load for one year.

Single subject FAQs
Single subjects are the individual components that make up a degree. With Open Universities Australia, you’re able to study many of them as stand-alone subjects, including postgraduate single subjects, without having to commit to a degree.
Each of your subjects will be held over the course of a study term, and they’ll usually require 10 to 12 hours of study each week. Subjects are identified by a title and a code, for example, Developmental Psychology, PSY20007.

If that degree allows entry via undergraduate subjects, there will be information about this under the Entry Requirements section. You will find a list of 2-4 open enrolment subjects you need to successfully complete to qualify for admission into that qualification.
Once you pass those subjects, you will satisfy the academic requirements for the degree, and you can apply for entry.
