This subject focuses on children in school settings age 6-8 years. The subject provides a comprehensive overview of theory and practices in establishing and creating emotionally supportive, equitable, healthy, safe and effective learning environments that achieve desired current curriculum outcomes.
The learning modules and professional placement enable pre-service teachers to become reflective educators who critique and apply their knowledge of multiple pedagogies, the curriculum, their role as a facilitator, design elements of a rich learning environment, and a range of approaches to authentically document learning.
This subject includes a three-week (15 days) professional placement with children aged between 6 and 8 years in school-based settings. This subject brings together all Australian Professional Standards for Teachers and the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority’s Curriculum Specification as students undertake school practicum.
Passing this subject is contingent on successful completion of the professional practice component of the subject.
