About this subject

  • At the completion of this subject students will be able to:

    1. research and explain theory for the effective use of data to improve student learning outcomes
    2. create learning plans based on data and research
    3. examine data from a full range of sources such as family, allied professionals, class or centre, school and system
    4. valuate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander student data and proposed actions to improve student learning outcomes
    5. demonstrate a theoretical understanding and application of using data to inform teaching and learning.

The tool that Curtin University has selected to fulfil this requirement is the Teacher Capability Assessment Tool (TCAT). The TCAT is a web-based assessment tool and further information can be found at the following link: https://tcat.edu.au/. Please check your Curtin student email address for the notification from TCAT with the link to enable you to register for this online assessment. You are required to undertake the TCAT as soon as possible in your course and please be aware that you will not be able to enrol in the subject Professional Experience 3 unless your TCAT result has been recorded.
