About this subject

  • At the completion of this subject students will be able to:

    1. appraise the progression on developing evidence against the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers in a prepared digital professional portfolio
    2. develop strategies to support the well-being and safety of students that are cognisant of their diverse natures, backgrounds and needs; and work within school and/or system, curriculum and legislative requirements
    3. examine the interconnected relationships and roles of teachers, students, parent/carer(s), schools, communities and professional networks in education; and effective communication strategies with these stakeholders
    4. design a positive learning plan that synthesises philosophy, theory and practical strategies in relation to leadership and stewardship of the learning environment to support the wellbeing and developing agency of diverse learners
    5. develop professional practices, knowledge and skills that support effective learning and teaching through the maintenance of positive learning environments that are designed to support the needs, wellbeing and developing agency of diverse students.

Additional requirements

  • Placement requirements - This subject includes a 3-week professional experience placement in a school. Placements are undertaken on a full-time basis in a continuous block.

    Please note that all relevant, valid working with children checks and clearances must be provided as requested prior to commencement of the placement.
