About this subject
At the completion of this subject students will be able to:
- apply knowledge about diversity and diverse abilities to plan differentiated teaching to meet specific learning needs
- research and analyse information and strategies related to diverse groups
- create individual educational plans to meet the specific needs of learners
- justify teaching and learning strategies to engage learners from diverse cultural backgrounds inclusive of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders
- illustrate strategies to engage and collaborate with families/carers, paraprofessionals and professional colleagues to support diverse groups of students.

The focus of this subject is on understanding about diversity within the context of a school environment. The subject will encompass literature and theory about student diversity and support and relate this knowledge to the classroom for students with diverse abilities, and cultural and social diversity. The subject includes differentiated teaching strategies to cater for diverse needs to maximise student learning outcomes. The importance of working with parents/carers and other professionals within ethical, legislative, administrative and organisational requirements will be highlighted.
