Health care systems across the world are facing significant challenges associated with limited resources, changing healthcare needs and rapidly changing technology. This subject takes a systems thinking approach to understanding how healthcare systems are organised to achieve universal objectives such as responsiveness, efficiency, financial protection and quality. Students examine stewardship, financing, resource generation and service delivery as well as the overall performance across all levels of the system, including public health. . Students will also compare different health systems from both developing and developed countries and critically appraise the challenges of delivering healthcare in different political, economic and cultural environments.
