About this subject
At the completion of this subject students will be able to:
- analyse global, national and local factors impacting on the health of women and children in developing countries
- examine the magnitude, patterns and causes of maternal and child morbidity and mortality in developing countries
- evaluate current intervention strategies for the promotion of antenatal, obstetric, maternal and child health in developing countries
- analyse public health programs in developing countries that aim to improve neonatal, infant and child survival
- critically appraise principles of program development within the context of specific maternal and child health care issues.

Introduction to maternal and child health in developing countries; maternal morbidity and mortality; antenatal care; safe motherhood: essential obstetric care.
