About this subject
At the completion of this subject students will be able to:
- describe the role of managers and managerial activities in information organisations
- describe stakeholder and regulatory mandates that impact on information services and organisations,
- contribute to the design and planning of organisational operations
- communicate the value and impact of protocols and tools that support and promote diversity and equity in information organisations
- apply management concepts and practices to a current professional context.
- Student will be provided with a list of topics in their Unit Outline.
This subject introduces students to management theory and frameworks relevant to the information professions. In this subject, students explore corporate governance as well as resources and project management planning, policies and practices. Key themes in this subject include stakeholder management, professional accountability, and how to contribute to a creative and innovative workplace. This subject includes professional workplace experience.

Single subject FAQs
Single subjects are the individual components that make up a degree. With Open Universities Australia, you’re able to study many of them as stand-alone subjects, including postgraduate single subjects, without having to commit to a degree.
Each of your subjects will be held over the course of a study term, and they’ll usually require 10 to 12 hours of study each week. Subjects are identified by a title and a code, for example, Developmental Psychology, PSY20007.
First, find the degree that you would like to study on our website.
If that degree allows entry via undergraduate subjects, there will be information about this under the Entry Requirements section. You will find a list of 2-4 open enrolment subjects you need to successfully complete to qualify for admission into that qualification.
Once you pass those subjects, you will satisfy the academic requirements for the degree, and you can apply for entry.
