About this subject
At the completion of this subject students will be able to:
- demonstrate an understanding of the principles of management of information services
- undertake foundation planning with regard to the finances, human resources and facilities of an information service
- synthesise the operational strategies and performance outcomes of an information service
- plan for the ongoing sustainability of an information service
- communicate the values and benefits of an information service to a client group.

Within a framework of organisational culture and professional practice, this subject examines management principles and practices in the context of information services. This includes strategic and financial planning; human resource management, facilities planning; legal, ethical and safety considerations; disaster planning, strategic marketing and the evaluation of services.

- Placement requirements - Includes three weeks practicum placement organised by the Department of Information Studies' Practicum Coordinator in consultation with you at your State. There will be an email requesting students to submit applications for their placements at the end of the Study Period by the Practicum Coordinator. Lookout for this email and respond accordingly.
