About this subject
At the completion of this subject students will be able to:
- evaluate personal leadership skills within a theoretical framework
- critique models and theories of leadership
- evaluate the context of healthcare leadership practice
- synthesise approaches to leadership strategies in healthcare
- demonstrate an appropriate understanding of academic integrity principles and apply academic writing, referencing and acknowledgement conventions required for the discipline.

- Contemporary leadership issues and leadership development
Students will build awareness of the nature of leadership in the context of health care and awareness of their personal leadership style. Students will examine the theoretical approaches to leadership and contemporary leadership issues in relation to health care as well as examine topics such as ethics, gender, and behavioural theories from the perspective of health care leadership. Throughout the subject students will explore the major challenges facing health care leaders, and learn how to effectively assess leadership development strategies. A key focus of this subject is to also develop personal leadership skills and strategies.
