About this subject
At the completion of this subject students will be able to:
- research and evaluate ethical approaches to communication, problem-solving, and decision-making in early childhood education
- describe and analyse qualities, skills and knowledge necessary for leading effective partnerships with colleagues, families and the wider commsubjecty
- investigate and report on the roles and responsibilities of leadership in early childhood education
- describe and evaluate the administrative roles and responsibilities associated with relevant mandated requirements related to early childhood education.

This inquiry subject proposes that all early childhood educators have a role in leading early childhood education. The subject provides the opportunity to develop foundational leadership and management skills and knowledge expected of contemporary early childhood educators. It examines the theory and practice of leadership in early childhood education and students uses the inquiry process to investigate the roles and responsibilities of early childhood leaders across a range of dimensions. These include ethical approaches to leadership, leading legislative and regulatory requirements financial and administrative management advocacy pedagogical leadership career development strategic planning and working in partnership with families and the wider community.
