About this subject
At completion of this subject students will be able to:
- research, evaluate and synthesize materials as they relate to the interior
- communicate creatively and professionally, complex information related to materiality
- experiment with the application of materials within a spatial context considering aesthetics and functionality

- create a design solution for a small scale project that demonstrates an understanding of detailed joinery construction.

This subject was previously known as Interior Architecture Habitation Fundamentals.
An introduction to the concept of materiality within the context of the interior environment. Students will investigate materials and their contribution to the experience of the built environment through studio sessions and interactions with industry. Materials will be explored as elements in construction, with consideration to lifecycle. Material detailing, with emphasis on basic joinery construction will be explored. Professional drafting skills and design-problem solving skills will be developed through the production of a full documentation package for a small scale project.
