About this subject
At the completion of this subject students will be able to:
- work collaboratively to undertake a site analysis, documentation and measured drawings of a culturally significant site
- identify conservation principles inherent in statutory heritage guidelines to inform a design position
- analyse relevant theory in relation to past, current and possible future realities to inform a design brief for the interior of an historic building
- communicate an innovative design proposition that includes the complexities of a building’s physiological, cultural and sociological narratives and meanings and considers indigenous perspectives
- create a design response that synthesises knowledge and skills in ways that embrace history in a contemporary context.

This subject was previously known as Interior Architecture Constructed Memory Studio.
Creative thinking is deployed in this studio unit towards initiating new design responses to adaptive re-use of historic buildings. Students undertake research methods to synthesise knowledge and technical skills in ways that embrace history, and includes indigenous perspectives, in a contemporary context. Concepts such as culture, values, memory and identity are explored.
