About this subject
At the completion of this subject students will be able to:
- examine the main models used within health psychology
- compare and contrast models of health behaviour in predicting different health behaviours in different populations
- evaluate the different models that may underpin the prevention of disease and maintenance of health across the lifespan
- evaluate frameworks that inform intervention design
- demonstrate the necessary knowledge and skills to successfully design a health-based intervention.

Student will be given the opportunity to develop an intervention based on health psychology models. The process can be followed from start to finish allowing the individual to utilise knowledge and skills gained in other subjects of study. Students enrolled in this subject will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the key models and theories in Health Psychology. The aim of this subject of study is to allow students to identify an area of Health Psychology where an intervention would be appropriate, review existing literature on the topic, formulate the intervention, and evaluate the intervention at a pilot level.
