About this subject

  • At the completion of this subject students will be able to:

    1. appraise the progressive development of capabilities against the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers and evidence this in a prepared digital professional portfolio
    2. appraise and apply research findings about effective approaches to guiding behaviour, constructing positive reciprocal relationships with children, families and the community, and creating supportive learning environments to cater for the diverse needs and cultural backgrounds of children

    3. interpret data relating to early childhood education and propose actions to improve the diverse learning outcomes of children
    4. evaluate and implement assessment strategies, moderation procedures and reporting to stakeholders for children in Kindergarten and Pre-primary settings
    5. synthesise understandings about professional practice to apply and demonstrate knowledge and skills for effective learning and teaching; and the creation and maintenance of positive learning environments that support the diverse needs of children aged three to five years.

  • Placement requirements - This subject includes a 4-week professional experience placement in a school. placements are undertaken on a full-time basis in a continuous block.
