About this subject
At the completion of this subject students will be able to:
- develop a repertoire of research-based strategies that support all children’s participation in learning
- examine and evaluate ways in which children’s health and wellbeing can be maintained in educational settings
- appraise a range of strategies designed to manage challenging behaviours that respect children’s rights and align with professional ethics and responsibilities
- develop strategies for establishing and maintaining collaborative partnerships with families
- design a supportive learning environment that fosters all children’s learning and relationships.

This subject focuses on creating and maintaining supportive, inclusive and welcoming learning environments. It explores positive and effective strategies for helping children manage their own behaviour, including ways in which the physical environment can be optimised for children’s learning, wellbeing and safety. Strategies for building and maintaining relationships with and between children will be explored. In addition, pre-service teachers will learn professional and respectful ways to develop and maintain collaborative partnerships with families in the educative process.
