About this subject

  • At the completion of this subject students will be able to:

    1. examine the features and implementation of authentic arts education practices with reference to the international literature, the Early Years Learning Framework and the Australian Curriculum
    2. demonstrate a competent standard of arts literacy (dance, drama, media arts, music and visual arts) sufficient to implement authentic, inquiry and play-based learning experiences for young children
    3. design and implement a play-based arts learning experience that is developmentally appropriate and reflects authentic arts learning principles and safe practices
    4. evaluate a child’s learning based on the cyclic process of observation, assessment and responsive planning using a learning story documentation
    5. create an inquiry-based sequence of lessons in accordance with the Australian Curriculum; the arts principles and content that presents challenging learning opportunities for a nominated age group.
