About this subject

  • At the completion of this subject students will be able to:

    1. demonstrate ways to engage students in reading for pleasure, enabling them to respond to texts in meaningful ways
    2. explain the devices authors use to construct and convey meaning in literary and visual texts
    3. appraise the aesthetic and social value of literature and visual texts for different students
    4. interpret and translate themes and images in texts in different semiotic modes (e.g. written to visual).
