About this subject

  • At the completion of this subject students will be able to:

    1. explain the basic corrosion mechanisms (electrochemical and chemical reactions) occurring in reinforced concrete structures
    2. identify the severity of corrosion in concrete in different environments and the risks associated with it
    3. assess different corrosion inspection and monitoring methods available and select suitable approaches
    4. evaluate and compare available corrosion prevention techniques and develop viable solutions.
