Business Quantitative Techniques
About this subject
At the completion of the subject students will be able to:
- relate basic, mathematical and statistical concepts that arise from a business environment
- recognise practical business situations in which a range of mathematical and statistical techniques are applicable
- conduct basic statistical inferences based upon suitable sample data
- develop appropriate mathematical models.
- Set and Functions
- Polynomial Functions
- Differential Calculus I
- Differential Calculus II
- Optimisation
- Elementary Probability
- Probability Distributions
- Normal Model
- Hypothesis Testing
- Covariance and Correlation
This subject introduces mathematical concepts relevant to business and economic applications. The subject begins with elementary calculus covering the basic rules of differentiation for univariate and multivariate functions and their applications, including but not limited to, constrained and unconstrained optimisation. The second part of the subject covers basic probability theory and its applications in statistics. Elementary statistical inference, such as two samples t-test, will also be introduced.
