About this subject
At the completion of this subject students will be able to:
- synthesise theories, principles, and standards of international best practice archival management and apply in context
- understand the relationships between archival best practice and information, memory and accountability industries
- evaluate the archival needs of an organisation and promote appropriate archival management policies and practices
- communicate appropriately for an academic and business audience
- research and contextualise practical applications against theoretical frameworks in the management of recordkeeping and archival services.

This subject was previously known as INFM270 Archives Concepts and Practice.
This subject introduces students to the practice and theory of archives management. This subject is grounded in an understanding of international archival principles, which are well formulated and form the basis of practice in this continually evolving environment. Topics include archival theory, appraisal, acquisition and accessioning, arrangement and description and access regimes and challenges.
