About this subject
At the completion of this subject students will be able to:
- identify modern, post-modern and contemporary architectural and cultural movements in relation to their underpinning theoretical and philosophical frameworks
- interpret the wider cultural, historical, social and political relationships that invest architectural artefacts and/or the urban sphere
- critique architectural artefacts and/or the urban sphere through application of theoretical frameworks
- formulate critical insights into theoretical and philosophical frameworks.

This subject is an introduction to various modern, post-modern and post-structuralist movements and critiques on architecture, centering upon the wider cultural, historical, social, political and philosophical relationships that invest the urban environment. This subject focuses on theoretical strategies of thought, design and critical analysis for use in various urban and architectural situations.
