About this subject
At the completion of this subject students will be able to:
- choose, refine and carry out a coherent plan for a research/creative practice project
- find and understand varieties of scholarly literature, materials and sources relevant to the research
- analyse scholarly literature and materials relevant to the research or creative practice and apply findings in the research project plan
- develop scholarly or professional communication skills sufficient to express and manage complex ideas and arguments
- demonstrate advanced understanding of cultural, creative and/or technical aspects of the research area.
- A week-by-week guide to the topics you will explore in this subject will be provided in your study materials.
The first of two supervised independent Master project subjects involving detailed research in/of a subject to be chosen in consultation with the relevant discipline supervisor. This subject focuses on the preparation and design of that research, and will be taken either in the study period prior to Advanced Discipline Project 2, or at the same time, with the two subjects forming a single coherent activity. The specific nature of the project, the methods of research or creative practice, the analytical tools and the outcomes in terms of reports, publications or productions will be determined on an individual basis.
Note: A discipline supervisor has to be nominated to guide you with your research project. Hence once you enrol in the Subject, promptly email a short summary between 250 up to 500 words about the topic you would like to conduct your research to the Subject Coordinator.

Students in the OM-NETSCM v3 Master of Digital and Social Media or OM-NETSCM v1&v2 Master of Internet Communications courses must have passed either NETS50012 MIC501 Web Communications OR NETS5013 MIC502 Digital Culture and Everyday Life, and have completed at least 100CP of units in their course to enrol in this unit.
Students in the OM-INFMGT1 Master of Information Management course must have passed, or be enrolled concurrently in INFO5030 INFM130 Information Theory and Research and have completed at least 200CP of units in their course to enrol in this unit.
