About this subject

  • At the completion of this subject students will be able to:

    1. distinguish and identify student characteristics, learning and assessment terminology and use it correctly in reference to educational and instructional development and implementation
    2. identify, interpret and analyse selected learning models in reference to student learning in their own teaching area
    3. recognise, categorise and generalise the student characteristics, and the elements of the instructional process to their own educational situation
    4. describe and apply the principles of measurement and assessment
    5. identify and describe a variety of assessment procedures used in higher education and demonstrate an appreciation of how choices can be made between them
    6. analyse the implications of current educational reform and debate on student outcome approaches to education within their own teaching area
    7. demonstrate their assimilation of research on student characteristics, learning processes and assessment issues in a major project.
