Subject details

This is an intermediate degree in Indonesian language that extends your social and reading proficiency and understanding of the system of Indonesian language. Aspects of Indonesian culture pervade the degree, providing opportunities for reflection on comparisons with Western cultural forms and norms, traditions and change.

At the completion of this subject students will be able to:

  1. describe, make requests, give instructions, use subjects of measurement, advise, suggest, inquire and give information, plan, interview, receive guests officially, narrate, appreciate and write short stories.

This subject builds further on the level of proficiency gained in IND21 Indonesian Studies 2A.  It is designed to expand abilities in speaking, reading, writing and listening to formal and informal registers of Indonesian language, thus enabling students to reach a secure level of communicative competence, both in terms of survival and socio-cultural skills.
