About this subject

  • On successful completion of this subject students should be able to:

    1. outline the historical, cultural, social and religious contexts in which the Christian movement developed up to the end of the sixth century
    2. use a variety of resources to identify and describe significant aspects of the life of the Christian throughout the period of the later Roman empire
    3. give a critical account of the key issues involved in the evolution of different 'Christianities'
    4. assess different factors leading to the emergence of the Christian church's political and cultural dominance by the end of this period.
