About this subject

  • On completion of this subject students should be able to:

    • Reflect on the role and purpose of accounting as well as how accounting can be viewed in a social good context
    • Express how varying economic transactions affect the accounting equation and how these are connected and categorised in a firm’s financial statements that report financial position and performance
    • Employ knowledge of budgeting and forecasts for management and financial planning purposes
    • Collaboratively analyse and critique the extent of corporate social responsibility of businesses using the tools learned in this unit
    • Evaluate and interpret a business’ strategic decision-making using financial analysis and cost volume profit analysis tools
