About this degree
At the completion of this degree students will be able to:
- apply advanced professional knowledge, practice and engagement in a range of school environments
- design, implement and evaluate curriculum, assessment and differentiated learning opportunities
- lead curriculum and community engagement initiatives.
This 2-year full-time (or equivalent part-time) degree equips graduates to meet the diverse learning needs of students and communities in North Queensland, and beyond. Choose from one of six specialisations and complete a capstone internship, with the option to study externally.
Award requirements
Students must complete 16 subjects.
Students must successfully complete the Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Education Students (LANTITE) and the Graduate Teacher Performance Assessment (GTPA) prior to graduation.

Entry requirements
AQF level 7 degree or equivalent, including the equivalent of one year appropriate study in primary school curriculum.
Advanced standing of up to 4 subjects may be granted depending on previous study.
Study method requirements
Students must complete 80 practicum placement days, plus a one-day-a-week placement in primary schools for a minimum of 20 days across the degree. Students must obtain a Suitability to Work with Children Card before the start of the first placement.

Graduates of this degree work as teachers in Catholic, Department of Education (DET) and Independent primary schools.
