About this degree
In this degree you will gain the knowledge, skills and management expertise needed to master the challenge of changing management practices in the aviation industry and further your career in aviation management. You will also develop analytical, communication and critical decision-making skills, which will enable you to add value to any organisation and take your career to the next level.
You will be able to apply your management skills to many areas of the aviation industry including: airlines, air traffic service providers, maintenance and repair organisations, and government organisations, such as the Civil Aviation Safety Authority.
On graduation from the masters you will also be eligible to apply to pursue doctoral studies or conduct independent research into the aviation sector.
Award requirements
To be eligible for the award of Master of Aviation Management (MAvnMgt), students must acquire 120 credit points as prescribed below:
- gain 10 credit points for 7010GBS Research Design
- gain 40 credit points for 7560NSC P1-P4 Aviation Management Research Paper
- gain 70 credit points for listed elective courses.
To be eligible for the award of Master of Aviation Management (MAvnMgt), a student admitted with 40 credit points of advanced standing must acquire 80 credit points as prescribed below:
- gain 10 credit points for 7010GBS Research Design
- gain 40 credit points for 7560NSC P1-P4 Aviation Management Research Paper
- gain 30 credit points of listed elective courses.
This degree/s may be awarded with Distinction where a student achieves a minimum program GPA of 6.5 with no failed courses. The words 'This award was achieved with Distinction' will be recorded on the testamur and will appear below the conferral date of the award.

Entry requirements
The admission requirements for the Master of Aviation Management are:
- The Graduate Certificate in Aviation Management
- OR a bachelor degree with at least a GPA of 5.0 in the same discipline, being `Business and Management' from a recognised tertiary institution AND at least 3 years work experience at a supervisory or management level
- OR a bachelor degree with at least a GPA of 5.0 that has aviation/aerospace as the major area of study from a recognised tertiary institution. e.g. Bachelor of Engineering (Aerospace); Bachelor of Aviation AND at least 3 years work experience at a supervisory or management level.
Students who have completed the Graduate Certificate in Aviation Management will be eligible for 40 Credit Points of advanced standing towards the Master of Aviation Management.
English language requirements apply to International applicants and other applicants whose previous study was undertaken in a language other than English. The minimum English language requirements for such applicants for entry to this program are as follows:
- A minimum overall band score of 6.5 on IELTS (Academic) with no sub-score of less than 6.0
- OR a minimum score of 575 on TOEFL
- OR an internet-based (iBT) TOEFL score of 79 (no sub-score less than 19)
- OR no score less than 3+ in each skill of the ISLPR (conducted by ISLPR Language Services only)
- OR a minimum grade of C on the Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE)
- OR a minimum grade of C on the Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE)
- OR an overall score of 58 in the Pearson Test of English (Academic) with no score less than 50.
English test results must be no more than two years old.
Students who successfully complete the Direct Entry Program (DEP) will satisfy the English Language requirements for this Griffith degree.
The Graduate Certificate in Aviation Management (3112) formally articulates with the Master of Aviation Management and students will be eligible for 40 Credit Points of advanced standing towards the Master of Aviation Management.
