Upon completion of this course, graduates will be able to:
- Analyse and discuss the key concepts and frameworks associated with Islamic psychology, human behaviour, human experience and counselling.
- Reflect on and evaluate the similarities and differences in the theory and practice of contemporary psychology and Islamic psychology.
- Reflect on and identify both opportunities and challenges in applying Islamic psychology and counselling in the contemporary context.
- Demonstrate the application of Islamic therapeutic principles in counselling.
The Graduate Certificate in Islamic Psychology at Charles Sturt University is the first degree of its kind in Australia. The Graduate Certificate in Islamic Psychology is designed for people who aspire to have a grounded understanding of Islamic psychology in order to enhance their current profession or to further understand the intersection between Islam and psychology in everyday life. The course explores the theory and practice of psychology, human behaviour, human experience and counselling from Islamic perspectives with a focus on culture and religion sensitive practice in meeting Muslim needs.

Entry requirements
Bachelor Degree (or AQF equivalent) in any discipline from a University or other tertiary education provider.
Work experience, within the same industry as the course profile, of no less than three years.
Standard English Language Proficiency (ELP) requirements apply.
Recognition of prior learning (RPL) and credit for current competencies will be granted to eligible applicants.
