About this degree
Upon completion of this course, graduates will be able to:
- Demonstrate specialist knowledge and critical understanding of a broad range of educational theories, practices and concepts.
- Demonstrate critical and coherent understanding of the relevance of education-related theories and practices to teaching, learning and related educational activities.

Recommended study pattern
Due to the wide variety of possible paths through the Bachelor of Education Studies, it is not possible to specify an enrolment pattern. Students will receive advice from the Course Director (Bachelor of Educational Studies) or relevant Course Director (Secondary or Primary) about subjects that best suit their needs and interests. It will be the student's responsibility to select subjects based on this advice, subject availability, prerequisites, assumed knowledge, and/or enrolment restrictions.
Award requirements
For the Bachelor of Educational Studies, students must complete 192 points (24 subjects or equivalent), comprising 1 core subject and restricted electives.
Exit points
The Bachelor of Educational Studies provides flexible exit options in the:
- Associate Degree in Educational Studies (128 points), or
- Diploma of Educational Studies (64 points).

Entry requirements
- Successful completion of two university level subjects (AQF level Associate Degree or higher) demonstrating a reasonable prospect of success through the Grade Point Average (GPA) gained in these studies; OR
- Successful completion of a Tertiary Preparation Course from an Australian University or an accredited provider demonstrating a reasonable prospect of success through the Grade Point Average (GPA) gained in these studies.
An ATAR of 60 (including adjustment factors).
- A completed AQF Certificate III or higher level qualification, OR
- 50% completion of an AQF Diploma level qualification, OR
- Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT) with an equivalent ranking to the currently listed ATAR.
Two years full-time (or equivalent) work experience that demonstrates the development of literacy, analytical skills, and social-historical knowledge.
Standard English Language Proficiency (ELP) requirements apply.
Recognition of prior learning (RPL) and credit for current competencies will be granted to eligible applicants.
