About this degree
During this course students will:
- Apply contemporary theories, pedagogical principles and philosophical perspectives of early childhood education to support the learning, development and care of young children.
- Employ knowledge of early childhood content and curriculum frameworks to plan, implement and evaluate educational programs to support children’s learning.
- Understand and implement a range of effective teaching and assessment strategies to provide a variety of learning opportunities to meet the needs of individual children.
- Apply principles of social justice and inclusion in teaching and learning experiences, recognising and respecting Indigenous history and diverse cultures.
- Understand and embed inclusive practices to promote meaningful participation in teaching and learning experiences for children with disabilities.
- Develop positive and reciprocal partnerships with family, community and colleagues to ensure the continuity of learning, development and care of young children.
- Create a supportive and safe learning environment for the health and wellbeing of both children and staff.
- Implement professional and sound ethical approaches to leadership, management, research, advocacy, and for social, economic, and environmental sustainability.
- Understand and comply with legislative, administrative and organisational requirements.

The following enrolment patterns are provided as a guide for part-time study. Students have the flexibility to vary their study load and enrolment pattern according to their individual needs, subject availability, and subject prerequisites. Study in Session 3 is not compulsory, however, students can enrol in Session 3 subjects to accelerate their pace through the course.

In subsequent sessions, students should complete five (5) restricted electives and EEB427 as one of their final subjects.

Entry requirements
- Bachelor of Teaching (Birth to Five Years)(or AQF equivalent); OR
- Three-year Bachelor of Early Childhood Teaching qualification (or AQF equivalent) from a recognised university.
Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care.
Minimum English Language Proficiency requirements apply.
All students are awarded with credit on admission into the course for prior study completed and the number of subjects required to be completed is defined by the package awarded upon entry.
