About this degree
Upon completion of this course, graduates will be able to:
- Describe Australian farming systems and the agricultural sector within national and global contexts.
- Competently contribute to the development and management of agribusinesses and agricultural production enterprises.
- Apply scientifically sound knowledge and practical understanding to the management of agricultural production systems.
- Apply economic and business principles to the sustainable management of an agribusiness by applying a rational decision making framework.
- Integrate the financial, human and biophysical resources of agriculture to plan and design viable, ethical and sustainable farm management systems and practices.
- Apply knowledge and awareness of cultural heritage management regulations and integrate perspectives of Indigenous Australian Peoples and other cultures on agricultural development and practices.
- Develop skills in the management of people within the workplace and maintain a capacity for collaborative multidisciplinary and multicultural team work.
- Clearly define their strategic direction as an agricultural business manager as well as observe and describe that of others.
- Complete tasks autonomously and as a member of a multidisciplinary team, and have well developed and effective communication skills.
The Bachelor of Agricultural Business Management combines study in agricultural production and science with a variety of business disciplines, preparing graduates for entrepreneurial, management and leadership roles in the agricultural sector. The course is designed to provide a diverse range of career opportunities for graduates at any point in the agricultural supply chain, from within the farm gate through to export and marketing of agri-products, as well as within the industries that are associated with and service agriculture.
Graduates will have a strong foundation in agricultural business management by concurrently developing excellent skills in business, management and finance; and the scientific/technical aspects of managing agricultural production systems. They will be capable professionals who are skilled in agricultural practice and ready to take up management positions, and will have a strong capacity for analytical thinking, innovation and communication.

Entry requirements
- A completed Tertiary Preparation Course from an Australian University or an accredited provider demonstrating a reasonable prospect of success through the Grade Point Average (GPA) gained in these studies, OR
- Successful completion of two University level subjects (AQF level Associate Degree or higher) demonstrating a reasonable prospect of success through Grade Point Average (GPA) gained in these studies.
- A completed High School Certificate with a minimum ATAR required (including adjustment factors) or equivalent, OR
- A completed Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT) with an equivalent ranking to the currently listed ATAR.
- A completed AQF Certificate III or higher level qualification; OR
- 50% completion of an AQF Diploma level qualification.
