An overview of the construction industry, project life cycle, the industry’s place in the community and external factors that influence it. The role, functions, and professional practices of construction managers, quantity surveyors and project managers. An introduction to a range of management concepts and techniques associated with construction projects.

At the completion of this unit students will:

  1. apply the principles of construction management to all of the stakeholders in the building construction process
  2. discuss and reflect upon the building industry and its place in the community and the external factors that influence it.
  3. analyse the role functions of the construction manager and the range of management concepts and techniques utilized in construction projects.
