An introduction to Australia’s Building Control System including: the functions of the WA Building Commission; the role of Permit Authorities; Planning legislation interaction with Building Construction; final commissioning of major projects from a regulatory perspective; sustainability and modern Building Control legislation and access for people with disabilities in current Codes.

At the completion of this unit students will be able to:

  1. analyse the effects of the application of the Building Act in regard to building construction
  2. interpret the legislative requirements for development applications
  3. describe the roles and application of legislative requirements for the building.
