The City as Cultural Artefact: its conditions and spaces. Students will study the relationship between idea, space, form and structure as it is related to human culture; analysis of the city as a representation of collective values; analysis, interpretation and creation of the elements of the city including interiors, pavilions, gardens, squares, streets, stairs, doors, gates, windows.

Work Integrated Learning will be incorporated through the unit by using a mode of teaching where design activity will take place in workshop simulations/on sites/simulation of the real world project/ interaction with community and industry etc.

Students who have completed BAS110 PRIOR to 2015 are not required to enrol into its co-requisite BAS115 as it was previously counted as double unit. From 2015, BAS115 must be enrolled at same time.
