This course is designed for professions that work with the law and those with an interest in the law. It offers a wide range of units covering many different legal topics and areas. All units are highly practical and support learning and knowledge that can be immediately put into practice in the workplace.


Applicants must hold a bachelors degree in any discipline or equivalent.

Work Experience:

Applicants with a minimum of two years full-time relevant work experience and who can demonstrate the capacity to study successfully at postgraduate level may apply for admission.

English language requirements:

IELTS score of 7.0 with no sub-score less than 6.5

Students complete the prerequisite unit LAW730 Introduction to Law and Legal Reasoning before or in conjunction with one of the other units whether studying full-time or part-time.

To qualify for the award of Graduate Certificate in Professional Legal Studies students must complete four units.

The maximum period for completing this program is 2 years.

Who can access it?

  • Australian citizens who will undertake, in Australia, at least one unit of study contributing to their course
  • Permanent humanitarian visa holders who will be resident in Australia for the duration of their unit
  • Permanent visa holders who are undertaking bridging study for overseas-trained professionals, and will be resident in Australia for the duration of their study
