This unit responds to needs of modern business by providing students with the aptitude and skills to contribute to the design of interactive products that support the way people work, communicate and interact in their everyday personal and working lives.  The unit will also investigate contemporary debates and strategies while exploring the practical understandings of prototyping and usability analysis. On completion of this unit students will have a solid grounding in the principles of Human-Computer Interaction (H-CI) and how it relates to the development of business products.

After successfully completing this unit, you will be able to:

  1. Analyse, adapt and apply the principles and goals of good user-interface design
  2. Appraise business needs and requirements with relevant theories of human behaviour to the design of good user centred, value driven applications
  3. Demonstrate perceptive and analytic skills in critiquing, analysing and evaluating the usability and usefulness of information technology
  4. Examine the role of user evaluation in the development of interactive systems and review various evaluation frameworks that are appropriate for a given set of objectives.
