Students who successfully complete this unit will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate an understanding of the concepts of business process, business process value, business process improvement, business process reengineering and workflow
  2. Describe and articulate the characteristic features of a process aware organisation
  3. Explain how conceptualising an organisation in terms of its business processes supports the alignment with its strategy
  4. Demonstrate the ability to identify, model and redesign business processes using appropriate methods, tools and techniques
  5. Critically analyse and evaluate existing processes (e.g., an 'As-Is' process model) in order to design and create a reengineered processes (e.g., a 'To-Be' process model) using appropriate methods, tools and techniques
  6. Discuss and illustrate how the introduction of IS/IT enabled process automation and process improvement, can improve efficiency in contemporary organisations
  7. Explain how process improvement technologies such as enterprise systems and business process management systems support the enactment of business processes
