This unit deals broadly with a number of issues relating to the management of information and communication technology (ICT) education and training programs and resources, and to the use of ICT as management tools. It is aimed at educators, ICT coordinators, and educational administrators who have already acquired a working knowledge of the basic applications of ICT in education and training and who wish to increase their knowledge and skills in the area of ICT resource management so that they can become effective leaders and facilitators for ICT education and training. Ready access to a computer, selected software and the Internet is essential.

Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:

  1. express a view on the nature and purpose of ICT education and training;
  2. develop strategies for incorporating ICT into education or training programs;
  3. assist with the implementation of an ICT education or training program in such areas as policy development and staff professional development;
  4. prepare a plan for managing ICT resources in a school or educational institution;
  5. use a range of software and networks for classroom or training environment management and administrative purposes; and
  6. take a leadership role in advising colleagues on all aspects of ICT resource management.
