Knowing how to plan a project and understanding techniques to control the lifecycle of projects is necessary in enterprise management. This unit aims to provide you with knowledge of project planning and control techniques required to introduce and implement manufacturing engineering into an organisation.

At the completion of this unit students will be able to:

  1. identify an engineering problem and select the project for implementation
  2. apply economic evaluation analysis and selection methods to identify the best approach for a project
  3. describe an appropriate organisational breakdown structure and work breakdown structure for a given project
  4. develop a project schedule to implement the project with consideration of budget and resource constraints
  5. develop a suitable monitoring control technique to evaluate the progress of a project.
